 Clamping For Cutting

Clamping the extrusion for cutting

Transfer the measurements you made in step four to the extrusion and scratch a line with a sharp instrument. This will be your  cutting line. Double check the measurement before you cut.

Cutting the extrusion smoothly with a hacksaw is much easier if you clamp it to a board. This gives the piece support and helps eliminate flexing or have someone hold it very firmly. I recommend clamping it as it yields a much easier and smoother cut.

The freshly cut ends will need to be dressed slightly with a file to remove sharp burrs that may puncture the shrink film or you if they are not removed.
